Day 9 – Sunday 23rd September 2007 “Fun Day at Sea” Not such a peaceful nights sleep, Hayley vomited once through the night, and was awake a few times off and on with a sore stomach. It seems a bit similar to what Brayden and Lauren had before we left, but with less vomiting. I stayed with Hayley while Michael took the other 2 to breakfast and ‘Camp Carnival’ the kids club. I then had brekky on my own when he got back, was very pleasant eating my freshly made omelette looking out on the ocean. Internet access on the ship is expensive and takes forever to load photos, but the text is no problem. I think I’ll just be loading my comments this week, and maybe the occasional photo if we’re lucky. Brayden, Lauren, Madeleine and Samson have all have fantastic days at ‘Camp Carnival’ the kids club onboard. They go all morning, then 2hr break for lunch with the parents, then afternoon, 1hr break late PM, then can either have dinner with you, or back to Camp Carnival till 10pm (they can even stay for a sleepover, but you have to pay for that). Kids are all enjoying it, and keen to keep going back. They’re meeting kids from all over (Brayden’s friendly with a boy called GK from Kent England, they got a Carnival medal each for winning the scavenger hunt today). Hayley spent the whole day in bed, but seems a fair bit better tonight. We had formal night Captain’s dinner tonight (Lauren only wanted to stay at Camp Carnival), Brayden & Madeleine dressed up and ate with us, then went to the Camp Carnival disco. The grown ups got to do the ‘Glory Dancers Show’ in the main theatre on our own (will try and load photo of the 4 of us, but may not work), was like a showgirl chorus singing US show tunes (New York New York, Georgia, Tennessee, Philadelphia – I reckon they sung a song for just about every US city/state, + a few slightly more modern ones like ‘Fame’ & ‘Man I Feel Like a Woman’, as a real hoot though. Brayden & Madeleine would have enjoyed the singing and dancing, but wouldn’t have coped with the costumes. At lunch today they spied a lady in a g-string type swimming costumes and were quite horrified, so the g-string’s in the chorus line may have been too much for them! Michael and I kept taking turns ducking back to check on Hayley. Tonight on the ship’s TV they showed ‘Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets’ which was just perfect for her. She’s not long finished the book, so really enjoyed watching the movie. She vomited off and on all day, it really does seem like the bug the other kids had 10 days ago, is just so odd that it’s hit her now. Hopefully tomorrow she’ll be back to normal. We’re so lucky it didn’t hit a few days ago when we were wall to wall theme parks, this is really the best time for it. Tomorrow when we dock at Cozumel I’m heading off on an excursion to the Mayan Ruins at Tulum. It’s a 7 hr round trip, Hayley wouldn’t be up to it, and the others don’t want to leave Camp Carnival so Michael has volunteered to stay here with them (well he’ll probably check out Cozumel for a few hours while they’re in kids club) and I’ll do the excursion. I’d much rather do with him/all of us, but better on my own than not at all! Will head off and try and connect to the internet now, it’s 10.30pm Sunday night now. |
