Day 16 – Sunday 30th September 2007 Magic Kingdom We actually made it to a theme park by 9am today, pretty major achievement for us. Only got lost once on the way (another major achievement)….oh the freeways and road signs are such fun to navigate here. We’d arranged to meet the Walkers near the Walt Disney statue at 9, they had not told their kids anything about us being here, so they were just sitting there and we walked up, they were very surprised, was great. We rode heaps of rides early then, before the park got too crowded, got on all the biggies with no waiting – Splash Mtn, Thunder Mtn Railway & Space Mtn. Lori-Lee and Dave reckon they haven’t actually ridden a ride together since they had kids, it’s always one of them with one of the kids, but today the 3 girls sat together, then Brayden & Zander (Alexander their son), so the adults got to sit in twosomes. Not long after we arrived Brayden and Zander started running off to get to a ride, Brayden had the backpack on, which for some reason was unzipped. We had a punnet of cherry tomatoes in there (as our healthy snack for the day), and we can see the punnet bouncing along, as we yelled for him to stop it popped out, next minute there’s 50 cherry tomatoes all over the path. Straight away a Disney cleaner appears and starts picking them up, so we start helping him and put them in the bin. So next thing, another Disney employee appears and comes up to us to say thank you for helping the first Disney employee, and presents the adults with 4 tinkerbell pin/badges. Was very funny, the girls were thrilled with them…….quite a surprise when we’d created the mess in the first place! Our other bit of extra Disney magic happened in the afternoon when we went to buy an ice cream each. We ordered, then the seller asked Hayley if she could name 4 Disney princesses and their princes. She rattled them off, and was given all of them for free, just a random thing they do every now and then, certainly made the ice creams taste even better! We had dinner that night with the Walkers at their resort, which you catch the Monorail too, really nice meal – and Hayley fell asleep under the table. Was a great day, kids really enjoyed catching up with their children (who we only seem to see at theme parks, either Luna Park or Disney World). Hoping for a quieter day tomorrow and bit of shopping. |
