Day 4 – Tuesday 18th September Another huge day, this time at Typhoon Lagoon, one of the Disney water parks. The intention was that this would be an easier day, park didn’t open till 10am and closed at 5pm, but we reckoned we’d leave mid afternoon and check out a few other things. Of course when we got there it was the most amazing vast water park (even the kids were sick of us adults being shocked at the size and said ‘of course it’s big, you know everything’s big in America’), and we ended up leaving after closing time. They had a huge beach with wave making, and many other rapids and various slides. Our favourite was the Crusher-Gusher, a roller coaster/water slide. We went down in triple tubes, Lauren at front, then myself and Michael, Lauren got absolutely drenched, we girls screamed all the way down, I thought she’d be freaked out, but as soon as we finished she wanted to go again. She ended up riding it about 6 times (and there were heaps of stairs to climb), I only managed 3 times, then she went with the other kids. By the end Karen, Michael, Michael & I were lying in the kiddie pool to the side playing with Samson where we could see them flying out at the end of the ride……was very pleasant. Also had a lazy river ride, where you float around on an inner tube all round the park, we’d done a similar one at Waterbom Park at Bali and it’s a favourite of us all, so that was lovely. I had the giggles and couldn’t get my legs up to swing into my tube, managed to flip myself over 3 times in the attempt. On the 3rd time my $55 prescriptions goggles fell off, and I didn’t realise till they’d disappeared, so was very cross at myself (and blind for the rest of the day in the water). We decided that evened the score after my $55 windfall at Disney World yesterday. Another new experience there was snorkelling with sharks, where you could float across a very deep pool, probably 12m across using the snorkel & mask and see all these fish and a few (small) sharks below. Hayley was very worried about the sharks, but we assured her that no one had died doing it yet, and she loved it (ended up going twice). Lauren was not worried at all, got right in, but both she and I ended up getting lots of water in our snorkel (the secret is biting down hard on the mouthpiece). Downtown Disney was nearby (an entertainment complex with lots of restaurants, nightclubs etc), so we decided to do a “quick” drop in there (in our swimmers). Of course, nothing can be quick when Disney’s involved, there’s a big Lego display shop, mega Disney merchandise stores, Planet Hollywood etc etc so wandered round there, but all quickly got tired so headed back to supermarket for ingredients for our newfound favourite holiday dinner, spaghetti with sauce and bbq chicken (which has in its favour that its cheap and kids eat it). Then made a quick dash to internet to finally get connected. And now for the best news……on our way out of Typhoon Lagoon I called in to the lost & found area…..and there were my goggles!!!
